Department: Operation Theatre (OT)
Position: OT Trainee
Location: Ardram Hospital, Vettichira
Reports To: OT Incharge
JOB SUMMARY
The OT Trainee will receive practical training in the day-to-day functioning of the Operation Theatre, including pre-operative preparation, assisting the OT team during procedures, maintaining infection control standards, handling OT equipment and supplies, and ensuring proper documentation and patient safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the OT team in preparing the Operation Theatre before surgical procedures.
- Prepare and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, consumables, and sterile supplies as instructed.
- Assist in maintaining aseptic and infection-control practices within the OT.
- Support the nursing and surgical team during procedures under supervision.
- Assist with patient preparation and safe transfer of patients to and from the OT.
- Learn proper handling, cleaning, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments.
- Assist in checking and maintaining OT equipment and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the Operation Theatre.
- Assist with counting and checking instruments, swabs, and other materials as per hospital protocol.
- Support proper disposal of biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines.
- Assist with maintaining OT registers, records, and other required documentation.
- Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and instructions from senior staff.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional conduct, discipline, and good communication with patients and staff.
ELIGIBILITY
- Diploma/Certificate in Operation Theatre Technology or a related healthcare course.
- Freshers and candidates undergoing practical training may apply.
- Basic knowledge of infection control and medical terminology is desirable.
