- Technical advice: Providing technical advice to subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives
- Project planning: Developing project plans, analyzing survey reports, and calculating material quantities
- Quality control: Ensuring that materials and work meet specifications, and implementing quality control processes
- Communication: Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other professionals
- Project monitoring: Monitoring progress, reporting issues, and creating work schedules
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed records and reports
