Senior Content Editor – SEO / GEO Strategy

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Content Editor who can bridge strategic content thinking with modern AI search optimization. This is not a traditional editorial role. You will partner with Technical SEO/GEO specialists to translate technical audits into comprehensive content strategies that impro
ve discoverability across search engines and AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.
You will own the content layer of enterprise SEO and GEO programmes for large clients, identifying opportunities across websites, YouTube, social platforms, knowledge assets and third-party content ecosystems. Your objective is to ensure clients become the most authoritative and discoverable source within their category.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop enterprise content strategies based on technical SEO and GEO audits.
- Conduct comprehensive content audits across owned, earned and third-party channels.
- Identify content gaps, topical authority opportunities and content decay.
- Build content roadmaps covering websites, blogs, FAQs, videos, social content, knowledge bases and other relevant formats.
- Work closely with Technical SEO and GEO specialists to convert technical insights into actionable editorial plans.
- Use AI-powered research and content intelligence tools to identify emerging topics, prompt opportunities and AI search visibility gaps.
- Define topic clusters, pillar pages, supporting content and semantic coverage strategies.
- Ensure content aligns with search intent, entity optimization and AI retrieval patterns.
- Create detailed editorial briefs for writers, agencies and internal teams.
- Review and edit content to ensure quality, factual accuracy, brand consistency and optimization for both traditional search and AI search.
- Monitor content performance and continuously refine strategies based on rankings, AI visibility and user engagement.
- Stay current with developments in SEO, GEO, AI search and content discovery.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial or digital content.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), AI Search Optimization or LLM-focused content strategy.
- Strong understanding of enterprise SEO principles including topical authority, semantic SEO, internal linking and content architecture.
- Experience working with technical SEO teams and interpreting crawl audits, indexation reports and keyword research.
- Excellent editorial judgement with exceptional writing, editing and content structuring skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to convert data into content opportunities.
- Experience managing content programmes across multiple digital platforms.
- Comfortable working directly with enterprise clients and presenting strategic recommendations.
Preferred Experience
Experience with tools such as:
- ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini
- Surfer SEO, Clearscope, MarketMuse or Frase
- Ahrefs, Semrush or Screaming Frog
- Profound, Goodie AI, Peec AI or other AI visibility platforms
- Google Search Console, GA4 and Looker Studio
- Content management systems such as WordPress
