Job Summary
The Legal Advisor is responsible for providing legal guidance and support to the company on corporate, commercial, regulatory, labor, and contractual matters. In a manufacturing company, the role also includes ensuring compliance with industrial laws, environmental regulations, factory operations, vendor agreements, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate & Commercial Legal Support
- Draft, review, vet, and negotiate contracts, agreements, MOUs, NDAs, vendor agreements, supply agreements, lease deeds, and service contracts.
- Provide legal opinions on corporate and business matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable corporate laws and regulations.
- Handle company documentation, legal notices, and correspondence.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- Companies Act
- Factory laws
- Labor laws
- Environmental and safety regulations
- Industrial and commercial regulations
- Coordinate with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain statutory records and legal compliance trackers.
Litigation & Dispute Management
- Coordinate with external advocates and law firms.
- Handle litigation, arbitration, labor disputes, and recovery matters.
- Prepare legal documentation and case summaries.
- Monitor ongoing legal cases and maintain records.
Risk Management
- Identify legal risks in business operations and recommend mitigation measures.
- Support management in policy drafting and governance matters.
- Ensure protection of intellectual property, confidential information, and company interests.
Internal Advisory
- Advise HR, procurement, finance, operations, and management teams on legal implications of business decisions.
- Conduct legal awareness and compliance training for employees when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) — mandatory
- Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) — preferred
- Enrollment with Bar Council preferred
- Additional certification in corporate law/compliance is an advantage
