About the Role
A growing U.S.-based engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Cloud Systems & Security Administrator to support its cloud infrastructure, remote workforce, cybersecurity initiatives, and virtual desktop environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, endpoint security, device compliance, and remote workforce support. Experience implementing security controls to protect company data and prevent data leakage is highly desirable. This is a long-term remote opportunity for a self-motivated professional who can independently manage and improve a secure cloud-based IT environment.
Responsibilities
- Microsoft 365 Administration Administer Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), users, groups, permissions, and licensing.
- Configure and maintain Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Implement and manage Conditional Access policies.Administer Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Azure Cloud Infrastructure Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure Virtual Machines.
- Implement and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Support GPU-enabled virtual desktops for engineering applications.
- Monitor Azure resources, performance, storage, and costs.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Endpoint Management & Security Configure and administer Microsoft Intune.
- Manage Windows endpoint devices.
- Deploy and enforce device compliance policies.
- Configure BitLocker encryption and security baselines.
- Manage software deployment and patching.
- Ensure endpoint compliance with company security requirements.
- Cybersecurity & Data Protection Deploy and manage Microsoft Defender.
- Implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies.
- Configure and monitor security alerts and reporting.
- Implement Zero Trust security principles.
- Recommend and implement cybersecurity improvements.
- User Monitoring & Data Protection Deploy and administer Teramind or similar monitoring platforms.
- Configure user activity monitoring and reporting.
- Assist with preventing unauthorized transfer of company data.
- Generate periodic security and compliance reports.
- Engineering Software Support installation, deployment, and troubleshooting of:
- AutoCAD Civil 3DArcGIS Bluebeam Revu Open Roads Designer / MicroStation Adobe Acrobat Remote Workforce Support Provide remote IT support for employees located in multiple countries and time zones.
- Troubleshoot Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive, VPN, and endpoint issues.
- Assist with workstation setup and user support.
- Documentation & Compliance Maintain IT asset inventory and software license records. Maintain system documentation and security procedures.
- Assist with business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Systems Administration, Cloud Administration, or IT Infrastructure Management.
- Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Microsoft Intune
- Microsoft Defender
- Azure Virtual Machines
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
- Experience supporting remote work environments.
- Experience implementing endpoint security and compliance policies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Teramind or similar monitoring/DLP platforms.
- Experience supporting engineering, architecture, surveying, construction, or consulting firms.
- Experience supporting AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, OpenRoads, or similar software.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Microsoft certifications are a plus.
