Argon Welder (TIG Welder)
Job Summary
The Argon Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding operations using the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding process, which uses argon gas as a shielding gas. The role involves fabricating, assembling, repairing, and maintaining metal components according to engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG/Argon welding on stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel, and other metals.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components before welding.
- Set up and operate TIG welding machines and related equipment.
- Inspect welded joints for quality, strength, and dimensional accuracy.
- Repair defects and perform rework when required.
- Maintain welding equipment and report maintenance needs.
- Follow factory safety procedures and use required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Work with production, quality control, and maintenance teams to meet production targets.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
Required Skills
- Strong TIG/Argon welding skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and fabrication plans.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and weld quality standards.
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Educational Qualification
- ITI in Welder Trade / Fabrication Trade preferred.
- Relevant welding certification is an advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in TIG/Argon welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Experience with stainless steel fabrication preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required.
- Comfortable working in a factory environment.
Safety Responsibilities
- Wear welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, goggles, and other PPE.
- Follow all workplace safety regulations.
- Handle gas cylinders and welding equipment safely.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Working Conditions
- Factory/manufacturing environment.
- Shift work may be required.
- Exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and industrial noise.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Weld quality and defect rate.
- Production output and target achievement.
- Compliance with safety procedures.
- Material wastage control.
- Equipment maintenance and uptime.
