Medical Officers are responsible for delivering high quality patient care, diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions, and improving hospital performance.
Their main duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide high-quality patient care by diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries
- Work in collaboration with healthcare professionals such as nurses, assistants, and other doctors
- Perform regular check-ups, health-risk assessments, and patient screenings
- Prescribe medication and provide comprehensive instructions for administration
- Coordinate and manage hospital staff, including scheduling, supervising, and evaluating performance
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve service delivery in the hospital
- Stay current with the latest treatments, medications, and medical procedures
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to medical ethics
- Carry out research to enhance knowledge and improve patient care
- Prepare and review patients’ medical records
- Respond to medical/health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate
Responsibilities
