We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and manage end-to-end US and Canada payroll operations from India. The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while driving operational excellence, managing a team, and partnering with global stakeholders.

Payroll Operations:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for US and Canada (bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly cycles).
- Ensure accurate processing of salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and deductions.
- Oversee payroll inputs from HR, time & attendance, and finance systems.
- Review payroll registers and validate outputs before finalization.
- Reduced payroll processing errors by 25% through automation and validation controls.
- Improved payroll cycle efficiency by 20% by streamlining workflows.
Implemented automation tools reducing manual interventions across regions.

Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with US Federal & State laws and Canadian Federal & Provincial regulations.
- Manage filings including W-2, 1099 (US) and T4, RL-1 (Canada).
- Handle payroll audits (internal, external, SOX).
Ensure compliance with tax withholdings, garnishments, and statutory deductions.

Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of payroll specialists/analysts.
- Allocate workload and monitor team performance against SLAs and KPIs.
Conduct training and upskilling sessions for payroll and compliance knowledge.

Stakeholder Management
- Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and global payroll teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll escalations.
Manage relationships with payroll vendors (ADP, Equifax).

Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Implement automation tools and system enhancements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for payroll efficiency and accuracy.

Reporting & Analytics
- Generate payroll reports, variance analysis, and dashboards.
- Provide insights into payroll trends, costs, and discrepancies.
Support finance with payroll reconciliation and audits.

Year-End Activities
- Manage annual payroll activities including:
- W-2 and 1099 issuance (US)
- T4 and other tax slips (Canada)
Ensure timely and accurate year-end filings with zero compliance issues.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, HR, or related field
MBA or relevant postgraduate degree preferred

Experience
- 8–12+ years of payroll experience with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role
- Strong experience handling US and Canada payroll from offshore (India)
Experience in shared services / global delivery environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent
- Experience in payroll transitions / migrations
- Knowledge of multi-state and multi-province payroll complexities
Exposure to automation, RPA, or payroll transformation projects
