Role Overview
We're seeking a passionate and knowledgeable IB Library Teacher to build and manage our school library while fostering a love for reading, research, and inquiry in Early Years and Primary Years Programme (PYP) students. You'll collaborate closely with teachers to support transdisciplinary learning and help students become independent, confident researchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the school library collection (books, digital resources, multimedia)
- Plan and deliver library sessions that promote literacy, inquiry skills, and a love for reading
- Support students in developing research skills aligned with the IB PYP framework
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate library resources into units of inquiry
- Organize storytelling sessions, book clubs, author visits, and reading events
- Teach information literacy, digital citizenship, and responsible use of resources
- Maintain a welcoming, organized, and inspiring library space
- Track circulation, recommend age-appropriate books, and curate diverse collections
- Assess student engagement and progress through observation and reflection
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, Literature, or related field (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a school library or teaching role (IB experience strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of child development, literacy, and inquiry-based learning
- Familiarity with library management systems and digital research tools
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills in English
- Passion for books, learning, and working with young children
- IB certification or willingness to complete official IB training
