Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Back-End Developer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing the server-side components of our applications. This role focuses on building secure, scalable, high-performance APIs, databases, and services that power web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate is passionate about software architecture, data management, system performance, and delivering reliable solutions that support exceptional user experiences. They will work closely with front-end developers, DevOps engineers, QA teams, product managers, and UI/UX designers to build and maintain robust applications.
Key Responsibilities
Fullstack Development
- Build secure and efficient RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
- Develop reusable modules and services following best software engineering practices.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code.
- Implement business logic that aligns with product requirements.
- Build microservices and service-oriented architectures where appropriate.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of backend systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable server-side applications.
Database Development
- Design, implement, and optimize relational and NoSQL databases.
- Develop efficient database schemas and data models.
- Write optimized SQL queries and stored procedures where required.
- Maintain data integrity and consistency.
- Perform database tuning and optimization.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Deployment & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Architect and manage automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) to ensure "one-click" deployments.
- Manage infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Implement Blue-Green or Canary deployment strategies to minimize user impact during updates.
Orchestration & Scalability
- Containerize applications using Docker and manage orchestration via Kubernetes (K8s).
- Monitor system health and performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
- Troubleshoot complex "it works on my machine" issues across different environments (Dev, Staging, Prod).
API Development & Integration
- Design, develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIs.
- Implement GraphQL APIs where applicable.
- Integrate with third-party services and external APIs.
- Develop secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Implement API versioning and documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger.
System Architecture
- Participate in designing scalable software architectures.
- Develop modular and reusable backend services.
- Improve system performance and scalability.
- Assist in capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.
- Recommend improvements to system architecture and development processes.
Security & Compliance
- Implement secure coding practices.
- Protect applications against common security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10).
- Manage authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure data storage.
- Implement role-based access control (RBAC) where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations and company policies.
Performance Optimization
- Create and manage RESTful or gRPC APIs that interface with internal services.
- Optimize database queries and schema designs to handle high-concurrency traffic
- Optimize API response times and server performance.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Maintain high code coverage.
- Participate in peer code reviews.
- Debug and resolve production issues.
- Ensure software quality through continuous testing and improvement.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Front-End Developers to support seamless API integration.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on deployments and infrastructure.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Support QA teams during testing and release cycles.
- Mentor junior developers when appropriate.
- Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of professional back-end development experience.
- Experience building enterprise or production-grade applications.
- Proven experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs and services.
- Experience designing scalable server-side architectures.

- Contribute to internal knowledge bases and development standards.
- Monitor server resources and application performance.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Improve database performance through indexing, caching, and query optimization.
