JD: Salesforce ArchitectRole Overview
We are looking for a Salesforce Architect who can design and govern enterprise-grade Salesforce solutions across business processes, Salesforce clouds, data, integrations, security, identity, AI, DevOps, and operational support.
The Architect will translate business objectives into practical solution architecture, guide delivery teams, evaluate technology choices, and ensure that implementations remain scalable, secure, supportable, and commercially realistic.
This is a technically hands-on architecture role. The candidate is not expected to work as a full-time developer but must be able to review code and configuration, build proof of concepts, troubleshoot critical issues, and validate architectural decisions through implementation-level understanding.
The role combines solution architecture, technical architecture, and implementation governance responsibilities.
Experience
- 10 or more years of overall IT experience
- At least 7 years of Salesforce experience
- At least 3 years in a Salesforce Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or equivalent role
- Experience designing multiple end-to-end, multi-cloud, integrated Salesforce solutions
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and translate business requirements into target Salesforce architecture and phased implementation roadmaps.
- Design Salesforce applications, data models, integrations, security, identity, automation, environments, and DevOps approaches.
- Define system boundaries, source-of-truth ownership, integration patterns, non-functional requirements, and architecture standards.
- Evaluate standard Salesforce capabilities, custom development, AppExchange products, middleware, headless applications, AI agents, and external platforms.
- Validate that implemented solutions remain aligned with the approved architecture through design reviews, code and configuration reviews, demonstrations, and production-readiness checks.
- Design solutions involving Salesforce clouds, Salesforce Data Cloud, Agentforce, APIs, enterprise data platforms, and external systems.
- Guide Leads and Developers through solution design and implementation.
- Review major technical designs, integrations, security models, data migrations, and release approaches.
- Identify architectural risks relating to scalability, data quality, licensing, security, performance, supportability, and vendor dependency.
- Support estimates, proposals, client workshops, architecture reviews, and production-readiness assessments.
- Ensure that architectural decisions are documented, understood, implemented, and validated.
- Support presales and solutioning while clearly documenting assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, licensing considerations, and areas requiring further discovery.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of the Salesforce platform, including Apex, LWC, Flow, APIs, security, sharing, data, metadata, events, and platform limits
- Strong experience designing multi-cloud Salesforce solutions
- Experience with enterprise integration, API-led and event-driven architecture, middleware, data migration, and system-of-record design
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce security, identity, compliance, data privacy, and access-control architecture
- Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, environment strategy, automated testing, monitoring, and production operations
- Ability to evaluate build-versus-buy and Salesforce-versus-external-platform decisions
- Strong consulting, documentation, stakeholder management, and architecture decision-making skills
Modern Salesforce and AI Architecture
The Architect should have practical understanding of modern Salesforce and AI architecture and, depending on project requirements, be able to design, govern, or work with specialists across areas such as:
- Agentforce, enterprise AI agents, prompts, grounding, agent actions, guardrails and human escalation
- Salesforce Data Cloud, unified customer data, identity resolution, zero-copy or federated data patterns
- Headless Salesforce, API-first experiences, embedded agents and external-channel integrations
- MuleSoft, API management, event-driven architecture, external AI platforms and agent-to-system integration
- AI security, testing, observability, lifecycle management, licensing, consumption and responsible AI governance
Cloud and Platform Exposure
Strong experience in at least two core Salesforce cloud or platform areas is expected, with broader awareness of related Salesforce products and enterprise technologies.
Core experience examples
- Sales Cloud
- Service Cloud
- Experience Cloud
- Field Service
- Revenue Cloud or CPQ
- Industry Clouds
Additional exposure
- Salesforce Data Cloud
- Agentforce
- Marketing Cloud
- Tableau or CRM Analytics
- MuleSoft
The Architect need not be the deepest specialist in every product but must identify when specialist expertise is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect credentials
- Relevant Integration, Data, Sharing and Visibility, Identity, Development Lifecycle, or cloud certifications
- Certified Technical Architect is advantageous but not mandatory
- Agentforce, Data Cloud, or Salesforce AI credentials are beneficial
Certifications must be supported by demonstrated architecture ownership, implementation understanding, and production decision-making.
