Job Overview:
A Commis Chef (North Indian Cuisine) is an entry-level kitchen professional who assists senior chefs in preparing and cooking North Indian dishes while maintaining hygiene and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of North Indian dishes.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, marinating, and measuring as required.
- Make basic gravies, sauces, marinades, and spice mixes according to standard recipes.
- Prepare breads such as naan, roti, kulcha, and paratha under supervision.
- Assist in cooking curries, kebabs, tandoori items, biriyanis, rice dishes, Punjabi dishes and regional specialties.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including tandoor ovens, gas ranges, mixers, and food processors.
- Help with receiving, checking, and storing food supplies.
- Follow recipes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and instructions from senior chefs.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, workstations, utensils, and equipment.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and personal grooming standards at all times.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene and food safety as per FSSAI standards.
- Handle kitchen operations efficiently during peak hours.
- Maintain accurate preparation and cleaning schedules.
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Culinary Arts preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of North Indian cuisine and spices, Knife handling and food preparation skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
