A Production Merchandiser is the vital link between a brand's headquarters and manufacturing units. They manage the product lifecycle from tech pack to final shipment, overseeing sourcing, quality assurance, production timelines, and cost control to ensure on-time and profitable deliveries. - Time & Action (T&A) Planning: Create and manage strict production calendars, tracking every stage from yarn/fabric procurement to finishing. [1, 2]
- Sourcing & Procurement: Calculate material requirements (Bill of Materials), source fabrics/trims, and negotiate costs with suppliers. [1]
- Sampling & Approvals: Coordinate sample development, fit approvals, and pre-production samples to match client specifications. [1, 2, 3]
- Production Oversight: Monitor daily operations across stitching, printing, and washing units to guarantee efficiency and proper garment construction. [1, 2]
- Quality Control: Work alongside the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure garments meet quality standards before packaging and shipping. [1, 2, 3]
- Shipping & Logistics: Coordinate with freight forwarders and buying houses to arrange shipping and track final delivery. [1, 2, 3]
Key Requirements & Skills
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of fabric types, GSM, printing techniques, and garment construction (specifically knits, wovens, or home textiles depending on the niche).
- Vendor Network: Established relationships with local CMT (Cut, Make, Trim) units and raw material suppliers.
- Communication: Excellent liaison abilities to bridge gaps between buyers, designers, and factory floor workers.
- Problem-Solving: Quick thinking to resolve material shortages, sewing delays, or quality issues without missing delivery deadlines
