Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Design: Develop and design mechanical components and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Prototype Development: Create prototypes and perform testing to ensure designs meet functionality, safety, and performance criteria.
- Engineering Analysis: Conduct engineering analysis (e.g., stress, thermal, and fatigue analysis) to validate designs and optimize performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams (electrical, software, manufacturing) to ensure designs integrate seamlessly into the final product.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate technical drawings, specifications, and reports for production and reference.
- Design Optimization: Identify areas for improvement and work on optimizing designs for cost, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Support products throughout their lifecycle, from concept through to production and eventual phase-out.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot design-related issues and come up with innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on product development.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or equivalent).
- Experience with engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA software for structural and thermal analysis).
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or certifications in relevant fields (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) is a plus.
- Software Knowledge: Experience with simulation tools (ANSYS, MATLAB, etc.) is a plus.
- Industry Experience: Experience in [specific industry, e.g., automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics] is preferred.
