Chief Business Officer (CBO) – Animal Welfare & Environment

About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and mission-driven Chief Business Officer (CBO) to lead fundraising, strategic partnerships, and resource mobilization initiatives for our Animal Welfare and Environmental programs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the development sector, strong stakeholder networks, and a proven ability to secure sustainable funding while driving organizational growth and impact.
Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies across CSR, foundations, institutional donors, HNIs, international agencies, and grant-making organizations.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities for animal welfare, environmental conservation, sustainability, climate action, biodiversity, and community development initiatives.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with donors, corporate partners, philanthropists, and funding agencies.
- Lead proposal development, grant applications, donor pitches, and fundraising campaigns.
- Drive revenue growth through innovative fundraising and partnership models.
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align fundraising objectives with organizational vision and impact goals.
- Develop long-term sustainability strategies to strengthen organizational growth and financial stability.
- Monitor sector trends, donor priorities, CSR regulations, and emerging funding opportunities.
- Contribute to organizational planning, expansion, and impact scaling initiatives.
Partnership Development
- Establish strategic partnerships with corporates, government agencies, environmental institutions, animal welfare organizations, international NGOs, and conservation networks.
- Represent the organization at conferences, industry forums, donor meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Build alliances that enhance visibility, funding opportunities, and program impact.
Team Management
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing fundraising and partnerships team.
- Set annual fundraising targets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure timely donor reporting, impact communication, and stakeholder updates.
- Maintain compliance with donor requirements, CSR regulations, grant agreements, and organizational policies.
- Oversee documentation, monitoring, and evaluation of funded projects.
Key Requirements
- 10–20 years of experience in fundraising, business development, partnerships, or resource mobilization.
- Strong experience within NGOs, environmental organizations, animal welfare institutions, social enterprises, or development sector organizations.
- Established network with CSR leaders, foundations, philanthropists, government agencies, and institutional donors.
- Demonstrated success in securing significant funding and strategic partnerships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Strategic mindset with strong execution and leadership capabilities.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA / Postgraduate Degree in Business Management, Development Studies, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Public Policy, or related fields.
- Experience in CSR fundraising, grant management, donor stewardship, and impact reporting.
- Understanding of animal welfare laws, environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and conservation initiatives.
- Experience working with national or international development organizations.
