Role Overview:
The FinOps & Data Analyst is responsible for creating clear visibility of IT infrastructure costs across Cloud (AWS, Azure, SaaS) and On-prem environments.This role combines FinOps practices (cost control, forecasting, budgeting) with data skills (Python, SQL, ETL, dashboards) to help leadership understand spending, optimize costs, and make better financial decisions.
The analyst will collect scattered cost data, clean it, analyze it, and turn it into meaningful insights.
Job Description:
- Monitor and analyze cloud and infrastructure costs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities (unused resources, rightsizing, anomalies).
- Perform TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analysis.
- Track key cost drivers (compute, storage, network, SaaS).
- Support monthly cost forecasting.
- Develop cost allocation models and showback/chargeback reports.
- Track KPIs such as cost per service, savings achieved, forecast accuracy, and utilization.
- Extract raw billing data using Python/Terraform from cloud providers.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines for AWS, Azure, and SaaS billing data.
- Clean and transform data for dashboards (QlikSense or other FinOps tools).
- Automate reporting using Python or SQL.
Desired Skills:
- Strong knowledge of FinOps practices.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, and SaaS cost management.
- Python and SQL scripting skills.
- ETL and data engineering experience.
- Understanding of cloud billing reports (AWS CUR, Azure Cost Exports).
- Familiarity with tools like Flexera, CloudZero, Nexthink (preferred).
- 34 years in FinOps or Data Engineering (total experience up to 56 years).
