The Production Planning Engineer (Assembly) is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring all assembly activities to ensure Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) are assembled, tested, and delivered on time while maintaining quality, safety, and cost objectives. This role serves as the bridge between Design, Purchase, Stores, Fabrication, Machining, Electrical, Pneumatics, and Assembly teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Assembly Planning
- Develop detailed assembly schedules for each machine/project.
- Break down machine assembly into logical work stages and milestones.
- Prioritize jobs based on delivery commitments and project urgency.
- Create daily, weekly, and monthly assembly plans.
2. Resource Planning
- Allocate manpower according to skill level and workload.
- Plan utilization of assembly bays, tools, cranes, and testing equipment.
- Balance workload across multiple assembly teams.
- Identify additional manpower or equipment requirements.
3. Material Readiness
- Ensure all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and purchased parts are available before assembly begins.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase to resolve material shortages.
- Track critical components that could delay assembly.
- Verify complete kit availability before releasing a job to assembly.
4. Interdepartmental Coordination
Coordinate with:
- Design Department
- CNC Machining
- Fabrication
- Purchase
- Stores
- Electrical Assembly
- Pneumatic Assembly
- Quality Department
- Project Management
- Service & Commissioning Team
to ensure smooth project execution.
5. Production Scheduling
- Prepare daily production schedules.
- Monitor adherence to planned timelines.
- Update schedules based on project changes or delays.
- Minimize idle time in assembly operations.
6. Progress Monitoring
- Track assembly progress against the project plan.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain project status dashboards.
- Report delays and recovery plans to management.
7. Work Order Management
- Release assembly work orders.
- Verify drawings, BOMs, and work instructions before assembly.
- Ensure the latest revisions are used.
- Control document distribution on the shop floor.
8. Coordination with Design
- Clarify assembly-related drawing issues.
- Communicate design changes affecting assembly.
- Ensure engineering change notices (ECNs) are implemented.
- Coordinate prototype and trial modifications.
9. Quality Coordination
- Ensure stage-wise inspections are planned.
- Coordinate quality inspections during assembly.
- Track non-conformities and rework.
- Ensure all inspection records are completed.
10. FAT & Trial Planning
- Schedule machine trials and debugging activities.
- Coordinate with automation, electrical, and software teams.
- Prepare machines for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Ensure all punch-list items are closed before customer inspection.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
