About : The Physical Education Section at IIT Kanpur is dedicated to promoting health, fitness, and sportsmanship among the institute's community. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, the section manages competitive sports teams, intramural tournaments, and recreational activities, ensuring a healthy work-life-study balance for students, faculties and staffs. The Section is also responsible for charting out the athletic calendar, managing facilities, and preparing the student contingent for prestigious tournaments like the Inter-IIT Sports Meet.
Role Summary : The Coach (Squash) will be responsible for the systematic development, training, and administration of the Squash program at IIT Kanpur. The main aim of this role is to build a supportive environment for anyone interested in playing squash from the IIT Kanpur community. Specifically, the role involves identifying and nurturing athletic talent within the student body, running structured practice sessions, overseeing court operations and helping manage campus-wide sports events.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. To conduct daily training sessions focusing on squash techniques, game strategy, and match play for beginners to advanced competitive players.
2. To design and implement sport-specific physical conditioning and injury-prevention routines for the student teams.
3. To assist the PE Section/SPEC in selecting, mentoring, and preparing the institute's Squash contingent for the Inter-IIT Sports Meet and other external tournaments.
4. To oversee the day-to-day operations of the squash courts, ensuring safety protocols, proper scheduling, and optimal upkeep of equipment and facilities.
5. To assist in planning, organizing, and executing intramural tournaments, open leagues, and campus sports festivals.
6.To conduct regular practice sessions for the institute team; involving match practice and court drills focusing on footwork, racket skills, shot accuracy, and tactical awareness.
7.To maintain accurate records of student attendance, equipment inventory, and facility usage logs.
8.To serve as a positive role model, instilling a sense of discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork among student-athletes.
9.To accompany the sports contingent as an official or coach during outstation tournaments when authorized.
10.To assist in conducting the physical education classes for the first year batch.
11.To conduct frequent workshops to encourage more people from IIT Kanpur community to learn squash.
Qualification:
M.P.Ed. + 1 year of sports specific coaching experience (after M.P.Ed.) + WSF Level 1 certification
Or
B.P.Ed. + 2 years of sports specific coaching experience (after B.P.Ed.) + WSF Level 1 certification
Or
Graduation + 2 years of sports specific coaching experience (after graduation) + WSF Level 2 certification
Or
Graduation + 2 years of sports specific coaching experience (after graduation) + WSF Level 1 certification + National level participation in an event conducted by SRFI
1. 4-5 years of experience coaching squash at a university, school, national academy, or club level.
2. Active background as a competitive squash player (representing university, or national levels).
3. Coached/trained any team who has participated in national/ University level competition.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
