Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bank Operations Specialist to join our dynamic Finance team at our innovative fintech platform. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth functioning of our banking partnerships and payment infrastructure. You will serve as the primary liaison with multiple banking institutions, manage corporate account lifecycles, perform complex reconciliations, and drive resolution of technical integration challenges in collaboration with our production support and engineering teams.
The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of U.S. payment rails (ACH, ICL, Fedwire), strong relationship management skills, and a passion for leveraging technology to optimize financial operations in a fast-paced fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Bank Relationship Management & Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for multiple partner banks. Coordinate operational activities, escalate issues, negotiate SLAs, and maintain strong, collaborative relationships to ensure seamless service delivery and rapid problem resolution.
- Corporate Account Creation & Management: Lead the end-to-end process for creating, onboarding, and managing corporate client accounts. Ensure accurate KYC/AML documentation, account setup in banking portals and internal systems, ongoing maintenance, and compliance with account governance policies.
- System & Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations between internal platform ledgers and external bank statements. Investigate and resolve discrepancies, prepare reconciliation reports, and implement process improvements to minimize breaks and ensure 100% accuracy.
- Payment Rails & Federal Reserve Integrations: Maintain expert-level understanding of ACH (NACHA rules), Image Cash Letter (ICL), BAI files, Fedwire, and other Federal Reserve technologies and reconciliation formats. Monitor integration health, support file transmissions, and stay current on regulatory changes and new payment initiatives (e.g., FedNow, RTP).
- Production Support & Technical Issue Resolution: Partner closely with the Production Support and Technology teams to troubleshoot and resolve bank integration issues, API failures, file transmission errors, and platform connectivity problems. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures for our fintech platform.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all banking operations adhere to internal policies, NACHA Operating Rules, Federal Reserve guidelines, BSA/AML requirements, and other applicable regulations. Support internal and external audits related to banking activities.
- Process Improvement & Reporting: Identify opportunities to automate and streamline banking operations. Generate operational dashboards, KPI reports, and executive summaries on bank performance, reconciliation metrics, and integration uptime.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in bank operations, treasury operations, payments processing, or fintech operations, with strong understanding of US Banks and Banking operations.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with ACH origination/receipt, Image Cash Letter (ICL), BAI files, and other Federal Reserve payment and reconciliation systems.
- Proven track record of managing corporate banking relationships and high-volume account portfolios.
- Strong proficiency in account reconciliation processes and tools (Excel advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reconciliation software).
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with bank executives, relationship managers, and internal technical teams.
- Experience collaborating with software engineering, production support, and tech support teams to troubleshoot and resolve bank integration issues, reconciliation (recon) discrepancies, API failures, file transmission errors, and other technical problems.
- High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as AAP (Accredited ACH Professional), CTP (Certified Treasury Professional), or CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist).
- Prior experience in a high-growth fintech, neobank, or payments company.
- Familiarity with modern payment standards (ISO 20022), real-time payments (RTP, FedNow), or core banking platforms.
- Experience with reconciliation automation tools (e.g., BlackLine, Reconcilor) or banking middleware platforms.
