Job Summary
The Shift In-Charge is responsible for supervising and controlling the safe and efficient operation of the Sulphuric Acid Plant during the assigned shift. The role ensures adherence to production targets, safety standards, environmental regulations, and operational procedures while leading the shift team.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control Sulphuric Acid Plant operations including sulphur burning, converter operation, absorption towers, drying towers, and acid circulation systems.
- Ensure safe plant operation by complying with safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Supervise shift operators and field staff, ensuring proper task allocation and performance.
- Monitor key parameters such as SO₂/SO₃ conversion, temperatures, pressures, acid concentration, and emissions.
- Coordinate start-up, shutdown, and emergency handling of the plant.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Sulphuric Acid process (DCDA process preferred).
- Experience in DCS/PLC based plant operation.
- Understanding of process safety, hazard control, and environmental compliance.
- Good leadership and shift management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot plant process problems quickly.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in large-scale sulphuric acid plants.
- Familiarity with acid handling systems, heat recovery, and emission control systems.
- Ensure production targets are met with optimum efficiency and minimum downtime.
- Identify operational issues and coordinate with maintenance and technical teams for timely resolution.
- Maintain proper shift logs, operational reports, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with pollution control norms and stack emission standards.
- Conduct regular safety checks, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.
