1. Backup Operations Ownership
Own daily backup operations, monitoring, and failure remediation across enterprise environments
Ensure backup job success, SLA adherence, and schedule optimization
Perform and validate restore operations (file, VM, database level)
Manage backup policies, retention, and compliance requirements
2. Platform Management (Commvault / Data Domain)
Administer Commvault CommServe, Media Agents, storage policies, and clients
Manage Dell Data Domain appliances (DD Boost, replication, deduplication, capacity planning)
Perform performance tuning, patching, and platform upgrades
Ensure backup infrastructure availability and scalability
3. Incident, RCA & Problem Management
Troubleshoot backup failures, storage issues, and performance bottlenecks
Drive RCA and implement permanent fixes
Handle P1/P2 incident calls and escalate to OEM (Dell/Commvault)
Ensure compliance with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem)
4. Monitoring, Reporting & Governance
Monitor backup jobs, alerts, and system health dashboards
Publish daily/weekly/monthly backup health reports
Track KPIs such as:
Backup success rate
Restore success rate
SLA adherence
Ensure audit readiness and compliance reporting
5. DR & Continuity
Support and lead Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and testing
Ensure adherence to RPO/RTO targets
Maintain DR documentation and recovery procedures

6. Team Collaboration & Leadership
Act as technical lead for L2/L3 backup engineers
Coordinate with server, storage, application, and network teams
Provide guidance, knowledge transfer, and technical escalation support
Participate in client governance and service reviews
