Role Objective
To operate and maintain Column & Boom welding manipulators for precision welding of large fabricated components, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Column & Boom welding manipulators for longitudinal and circumferential welds.
- Configure welding parameters: voltage, current, wire feed speed, travel speed, and arc gap.
- Align welding heads and fixtures according to engineering drawings and weld maps.
- Monitor weld quality, penetration, and bead profile during automated welding.
- Perform preventive maintenance on manipulators, welding torches, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues in welding automation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, ASME, and AWS welding standards.
- Document welding parameters, production logs, and maintenance records.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), MIG/MAG, and TIG processes.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled welding automation systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Familiarity with welding consumables (flux, wire, electrodes).
- Understanding of metallurgy and heat input control.
- Competence in safety practices: PPE usage, fume extraction, and fire prevention.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or Fabrication Technology.
- 3–5 years of experience in welding automation or heavy fabrication industry.
- Certification in ASME/AWS welding standards preferred.
Work Environment
- Heavy fabrication shop floor with exposure to welding fumes, heat, and noise.
- Requires shift-based work aligned with production schedules.
- Physical stamina to handle long hours and heavy equipment.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹42,000.00 per month
