Job Description – Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation / Pick & Place Systems)

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in high-speed automation systems, pick & place mechanisms, indexing systems, and cam-driven assemblies. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in designing precision mechanical systems, performing motion analysis, and creating manufacturing drawings with GD&T and tolerance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-speed Pick & Place automation systems.
- Design high-speed rotary/indexing part feeding mechanisms and automation assemblies.
- Develop and optimize cam profiles (barrel cams, plate cams, indexing cams, etc.) based on application requirements.
- Perform motion analysis and kinematic studies of mechanisms and sub-assemblies to ensure smooth and accurate operation.
- Design machine components considering manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance.
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with proper tolerances, reference dimensions, and GD&T standards.
- Select and integrate pneumatic components including cylinders, valves, vacuum generators, FRLs, and fittings.
- Work with servo motors, servo drives, sensors, and automation components for machine integration.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, assembly, and procurement teams for successful project execution.
- Ensure designs comply with quality, safety, and performance standards.
Required Skills
- Strong experience in Mechanical Design of Pick & Place Systems.
- Experience in High-Speed Rotary/Indexing Feeding Systems.
- Expertise in Cam Mechanism Design and Cam Profile Development.
- Good understanding of Motion Analysis and Kinematic Mechanisms.
- Knowledge of Pneumatics, cylinders, valves, vacuum generators, and air circuits.
- Understanding of Servo Drives, Motors, Sensors, and Motion Control Systems.
- Proficiency in 2D Drafting with proper tolerances and dimensioning standards.
- Knowledge of standard raw material sizes, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, Creo, or Inventor will be an advantage.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 4–9 years of experience in industrial automation machinery design.
- Experience in special-purpose machines (SPM), assembly automation, packaging machinery, or material handling systems will be preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
