About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Purchase Engineer (MEP) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement and vendor management for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of MEP materials, equipment, and systems, along with excellent negotiation and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for MEP materials, equipment, and services.
- Source and evaluate suppliers/vendors for MEP-related requirements.
- Obtain quotations, conduct techno-commercial comparisons, and negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely procurement as per project requirements.
- Coordinate with project, planning, and site teams to understand material requirements and procurement schedules.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain a reliable vendor database for MEP materials and services.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, pricing, delivery, and service.
- Build long-term relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Cost Control & Budgeting
- Analyze procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Ensure procurement activities are aligned with project budgets and approved specifications.
- Support management in achieving cost-saving targets without compromising quality.
Material Planning & Coordination
- Monitor material availability and ensure timely delivery to project sites.
- Coordinate with stores and site teams regarding material receipts and inventory levels.
- Resolve supply chain issues and expedite critical material deliveries.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain procurement records, purchase orders, quotations, comparison statements, and vendor contracts.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and project specifications.
- Support audits and provide procurement-related documentation when required.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of MEP materials, equipment, and systems.
- Experience in procurement for commercial buildings, residential projects, industrial projects, hospitals, hotels, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in vendor negotiation and contract management.
- Good understanding of technical specifications, BOQs, and drawings.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, MS Excel, and procurement software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Procurement of HVAC systems, electrical panels, transformers, DG sets, firefighting systems, plumbing materials, pumps, lifts, and related MEP equipment.
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, and project management teams.
- Exposure to large-scale building or infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.
