Job Summary
Server Patching - Lead Analyst - L1
Key Responsibilities
Patch Deployment: Schedule and apply critical Windows OS updates, security fixes, and application patches to RDSH farm servers. Draining and Maintenance: Route active user sessions to healthy servers before applying patches, ensuring end-users experience zero downtime. Image Management: Update golden images (the master templates used to deploy virtual desktops) to ensure newly spun-up hosts are fully patched. Testing and Validation: Test patches in staging or non-production environments to prevent compatibility issues with published applications. Monitoring & Compliance: Use patch management tools like Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) or WSUS to track which servers are missing updates and verify compliance. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix any performance or connection issues that may arise on the session hosts after an update is applied
Skill Requirements
2 to 5 years of experience in system administration, IT operations, or desktop/server support.Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server environments, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Active Directory, and Group Policy. Tool Familiarity: Hands-on experience with deployment systems such as WSUS, SCCM, Microsoft Intune, or AWS Systems Manager.
Other Requirements
Ability to coordinate with cybersecurity and change management teams, alongside excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
