Position Overview
The Residential Nurse will be responsible for providing primary healthcare support to students and staff, managing the school infirmary, maintaining health records, coordinating medical care when required, and promoting a safe and healthy campus environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff.
- Assess minor illnesses and injuries and provide appropriate treatment within the scope of practice.
- Maintain and manage the school infirmary, medical equipment, and medicine inventory.
- Administer prescribed medications and maintain medication records.
- Monitor the health and well-being of students, especially those residing on campus.
- Maintain accurate health records, treatment logs, and medical documentation.
- Coordinate medical consultations, hospital visits, and emergency referrals when required.
- Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns when necessary.
- Assist in organizing periodic health check-ups, vaccination drives, and health awareness programs.
- Ensure compliance with school health policies and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Coordinate with visiting doctors and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate support.
- Support school events, sports activities, excursions, and residential programs from a healthcare perspective.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma, GNM, B.Sc. Nursing, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Valid nursing registration with the appropriate Nursing Council.
- 5+ years of experience in nursing, school health services, hospitals, clinics, or community healthcare.
- Knowledge of first aid, emergency response, and basic healthcare practices.
- Ability to maintain medical records and handle confidential information.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office).
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in residential schools, hostels, educational institutions, hospitals, or pediatric care settings.
- Experience handling adolescent health and wellness needs.
- Familiarity with school health protocols and emergency response procedures.
