Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Panel Door & Enclosure Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing electrical control panel enclosures, doors, mounting arrangements, and sheet metal components in compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities. This role requires strong CAD skills, knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, and an understanding of electrical panel construction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and develop electrical panel enclosures, doors, frames, and associated sheet metal components.
2. Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
3. Prepare manufacturing drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and assembly documentation.
4. Ensure designs comply with applicable standards such as IEC, UL, NEMA, and customer specifications.
5. Coordinate with electrical engineers, production teams, and project managers to optimize designs for manufacturability.
6. Design mounting provisions for electrical equipment, cable management systems, and ventilation arrangements.
7. Review and modify existing designs to improve performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
8. Support prototype development, testing, and production implementation.
9. Resolve design-related issues during fabrication and assembly.
10. Maintain accurate engineering records and revision control.
Required Qualifications
1. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
2. 2–5 years of experience in electrical panel enclosure or sheet metal design.
3. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, similar.
4. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, bending, welding, and assembly processes.
5. Knowledge of electrical control panels, switchgear, MCCs, or distribution boards.
6. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
7. Familiarity with enclosure standards (NEMA, IP ratings, UL, IEC).
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with CNC fabrication and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
2. Knowledge of thermal management, ventilation, and enclosure protection requirements.
3. Experience working in electrical panel manufacturing environments.
4. Familiarity with ERP/PDM systems.
