- We are seeking a passionate, highly skilled, and organized Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will oversee all culinary operations, design innovative menus, and maintain the highest standards of food quality and hygiene. As a leader, you will be responsible for hiring, training, and mentoring kitchen staff while managing inventory and controlling food costs to ensure profitability.
Core Responsibilities
- Culinary Leadership: Direct and supervise all food preparation, cooking, and plating activities.
- Menu Development: Design creative, seasonal, and cost-effective menus aligned with restaurant themes.
- Quality Control: Inspect and approve every dish before it reaches the customer to guarantee excellence.
- Team Management: Recruit, hire, schedule, and train sous chefs, cooks, and kitchen porters.
- Financial Oversight: Manage food budgets, calculate plate costs, and optimize inventory to minimize waste.
- Vendor Relations: Source ingredients and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure premium quality at competitive rates.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict local health department sanitation practices, food safety systems, and workplace safety laws.
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspect kitchen tools and machinery, arranging for immediate repairs when necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional culinary experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or Sous Chef role.
- Education: Degree in Culinary Arts or an equivalent professional hospitality certification is preferred but not mandatory with proven experience.
- Technical Skills: Masterful knowledge of diverse culinary techniques, flavor pairings, and modern kitchen equipment.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, leadership under high-pressure scenarios, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Business Acumen: Basic proficiency with kitchen management, spreadsheet, or Point of Sale (POS) software.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for long hours, lift heavy crates, and work flexible shifts (evenings, weekends, holidays).
