Core Responsibilities
- Sample Collection: Perform venipuncture, finger pricks, and heel sticks to draw high-quality blood specimens.
- Patient Care: Verify patient identity, explain procedures, reduce anxiety, and ensure patient comfort and safety during the draw.
- Specimen Processing: Accurately label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare samples for transport according to strict laboratory protocols.
- Lab Support: Assist with clerical duties, manage lab inventory, stock supplies, and maintain medical equipment.
- Safety & Hygiene: Disinfect puncture sites and adhere to OSHA/universal precautions regarding infection control and biohazard disposal.
- Data Management: Input patient data, test requisitions, and clinical results into the laboratory information system (LIS).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A high school diploma paired with a certified Phlebotomy training program, DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology), or MLT certificate.
- Key Skills: High proficiency in venipuncture, strong vein-locating skills, attention to detail, and excellent bedside manner.
- Certifications: Many roles require or prefer a valid certification from accredited bodies (e.g., ASCP in the US).
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
