The Forecasting & Scheduling Lead is responsible for ensuring accurate forecasting, scheduling data integrity, and DSM performance optimisation across Solar and Wind assets. The role drives analysis of deviations, minimisation of DSM liabilities, and regulatory compliance, while enabling informed operational and commercial decisions. It also oversees Open Access, onboarding, billing, and settlements in coordination with QCAs, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
The role operates at the intersection of O&M, commercial, and regulatory functions, ensuring end-to-end visibility and control over forecasting, scheduling, and DSM performance across the renewable portfolio.
While QCAs execute day-to-day scheduling and submissions, this role ensures data validation, performance optimisation, and financial control. It requires close coordination with QCAs, SLDCs, SERCs, OA consultants, finance, and site teams to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and timely settlements.
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency of forecast, schedule, and DSM data across multiple states, QCAs, and asset types.
- Navigating dynamic regulatory frameworks (DSM, RRF, OA policies) across states.
- Driving DSM optimisation despite variability in weather, grid constraints, and QCA performance.
- Maintain a centralised, real-time database of all Day-Ahead (DA) and Intraday (I-D) schedules and forecasts.
- Validate QCA submissions for accuracy, completeness, and timestamp alignment.
- Identify and resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, and missing revisions.
- Develop automated validation tools and audit-ready reports.
- Ensure historical data integrity for performance tracking and regulatory audits.
- Analyse DSM charges on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis across Solar & Wind assets.
- Identify deviation patterns, root causes, and financial impact.
- Develop state-wise and asset-wise dashboards for DSM performance monitoring.
- Drive optimisation strategies (forecast accuracy, revision timing, QCA performance).
- Benchmark QCAs and recommend performance improvements to minimise DSM penalties.
- Track and evaluate forecast accuracy (MAE, MAPE, deviation trends) across assets.
- Work with QCAs and internal teams to improve forecasting models and methodologies.
- Identify systematic errors (irradiance, wind variability, grid issues) and drive corrective actions.
- Enable data-driven forecasting improvements using analytics and historical trends.
- Manage Open Access processes including NOCs, STOA/MTOA/LTOA applications, and renewals.
- Lead onboarding of new assets into DSM regime (QCA onboarding, meter integration, scheduling readiness).
- Track and interpret state-level DSM/RRF/OA regulations and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with SLDCs, SERCs, and QCAs for regulatory alignment and issue resolution.
- Validate DSM invoices and reconcile with internal analysis.
- Ensure timely payments, dispute resolution, and adjustments in coordination with Finance.
- Track QCA charges, OA costs, and state-wise settlement cycles.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for all financial transactions related to DSM and OA.
- Act as a central point of contact for QCAs, utilities, OA consultants, finance, and O&M teams.
- Ensure timely communication and closure of scheduling, DSM, and billing issues.
- Drive governance through standardised processes, SLAs, and performance reviews with QCAs.
- Develop automation tools, dashboards, and trackers for forecasting, scheduling, and DSM.
- Improve data visibility, reporting efficiency, and decision-making speed.
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation and system integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Renewable / Energy) or related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in Renewable Energy (Solar/Wind), with strong exposure to forecasting, scheduling, and DSM.
- Hands-on experience working with QCAs, SLDCs, and Open Access frameworks.
- Strong understanding of DSM regulations, grid operations, and forecasting methodologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis, dashboards (Excel/Power BI), and reporting tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
