The Senior Financial Controller will lead the finance and controllership function for Position2 Marketing Private Limited, with responsibility for financial reporting, accounting operations, statutory compliance, financial controls, planning and analysis, cash-flow management, audits and business partnering.
The role will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial governance, improve operating visibility and build scalable finance processes supporting the growth of a digital marketing and technology-enabled services organization.
- Own the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely reporting.
- Lead preparation and review of the Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement and management reporting.
- Review balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany transactions and other key accounting areas.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and Position2 accounting policies.
- Establish strong review mechanisms around journal entries, reconciliations and period-end close.
- Drive improvements in close timelines, reporting quality and financial data integrity.
- Oversee revenue recognition for retainers, projects, media services, creative services and other client engagements in accordance with contractual terms and applicable accounting standards.
- Review client SOWs and commercial arrangements from a finance perspective, including billing milestones, payment terms and revenue recognition implications.
- Ensure appropriate tracking of unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, accrued revenue and client advances.
- Monitor project/client profitability and provide visibility into revenue, gross margin and contribution margins.
- Partner with Client Services, Sales and Delivery teams on commercial and financial matters.
- Provide oversight of customer billing, collections and accounts receivable.
- Monitor ageing, DSO, overdue receivables and collection risks.
- Drive appropriate collection governance and escalation mechanisms.
- Manage working-capital requirements and provide leadership with visibility into cash requirements and liquidity.
- Establish cash-flow forecasting and monitoring processes.
- Establish financial controls around media spends, client funding, vendor payments and reconciliations.
- Monitor significant media-related receivables and payables and associated working-capital exposure.
- Ensure appropriate reconciliation between client billings, media spends and vendor/platform invoices.
- Oversee vendor management from a finance perspective, including payment controls, ageing and commercial terms.
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Prepare monthly actual-versus-budget/forecast analysis and explain key business drivers.
- Partner with business leaders on revenue forecasts, headcount planning, operating expenses and profitability.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support management decisions.
- Track key financial and operational metrics including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, utilization, headcount productivity, DSO and working capital.
- Support leadership with financial analysis relating to investments, resource allocation, pricing and growth initiatives.
- Oversee banking relationships, cash management and liquidity planning.
- Prepare short- and medium-term cash-flow forecasts.
- Monitor funding requirements and optimize utilization of banking facilities.
- Strengthen controls around banking transactions, payments and authorization matrices.
- Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, corporate tax and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Oversee statutory filings and coordinate with tax consultants and external advisors.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and compliance for cross-border and intercompany transactions.
- Support transfer-pricing documentation and related compliance, where applicable.
- Lead statutory audits, tax audits and other financial reviews.
- Act as the primary finance point of contact for auditors and external consultants.
- Design and strengthen internal financial controls, including segregation of duties, approval matrices and audit trails.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, SOPs and finance governance frameworks.
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation controls.
- Provide oversight across GL, AP, AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets and other finance operations.
- Standardize and automate finance processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Drive better integration between finance systems and operational data.
- Identify opportunities for automation of reconciliations, reporting, billing and management information.
- Establish scalable finance processes capable of supporting business growth.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance and accounting team.
- Establish clear ownership, performance metrics and review mechanisms across finance.
- Partner with senior leadership and functional heads across Sales, Client Services, Delivery, HR and Operations.
- Translate financial information into actionable business insights for management.
- Build a finance culture focused on accountability, controls, commercial awareness and continuous improvement.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 12–15+ years of post-qualification experience, preferably within digital marketing, professional services, technology services, SaaS or other services-led organizations.
- Strong experience in financial controllership, accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, audit and working-capital management.
- Demonstrated experience managing monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and service/project-based commercial arrangements.
- Experience working with cross-border transactions and multinational operations would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Indian statutory and tax requirements.
- Experience building or strengthening internal financial controls, SOPs and finance governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and finance automation initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage and develop finance teams and partner effectively with senior business stakeholders.
