Echo Technician cum Tutor
Job Summary
The Echo Technician cum Tutor is responsible for performing echocardiography and other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures while providing academic instruction, clinical demonstrations, and supervision to students pursuing Cardiac Care Technology or related allied health programs. The role ensures high standards of patient care, supports cardiologists during diagnostic procedures, and promotes competency-based clinical education.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiography (2D Echo, M-Mode, Color Doppler, Pulsed Wave and Continuous Wave Doppler).
- Perform ECG and TMT procedures as per physician instructions.
- Prepare, position, and educate patients before examinations.
- Obtain accurate diagnostic images for cardiologist interpretation.
- Assist cardiologists during advanced procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), where applicable.
- Monitor patient condition during examinations and report abnormal findings promptly.
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation.
- Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of echocardiography equipment.
- Follow infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance protocols.
Academic Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom lectures in Cardiac Care Technology, Echocardiography, ECG, Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology, and related subjects.
- Conduct practical demonstrations and laboratory sessions.
- Supervise students during hospital clinical postings.
- Evaluate students through practical examinations, assignments, case presentations, and internal assessments.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and competency-based learning resources.
- Mentor and guide students in developing clinical skills and professional conduct.
- Maintain academic records, attendance, and assessment documentation.
- Participate in curriculum development, academic meetings, and accreditation activities.
- Encourage evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the academic department and cardiology unit for clinical training schedules.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, health camps, and continuing education programs.
- Support departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cardiac Care Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related allied health discipline (Master's degree preferred where required).
- Certification or training in Echocardiography is desirable.
- Registration with the relevant professional or regulatory authority, if applicable.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in echocardiography.
- Prior teaching or clinical instructor experience is preferred.
- Freshers with excellent academic performance and teaching aptitude may be considered for junior tutor roles.
