1. Vehicle Inspection
- Inspect customer vehicles for mechanical and electrical problems.
- Perform diagnostic tests using service tools and scanners.
- Identify issues related to engine, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
2. Vehicle Service & Maintenance
- Perform regular maintenance such as:
- Engine oil change
- Filter replacement
- Brake inspection
- Tire rotation
- Fluid checks
- Routine service tasks like these are common responsibilities for automobile technicians in dealership workshops.
3. Repair Work
- Repair or replace defective parts such as:
- Brake pads
- Sensors
- Batteries
- Belts and hoses
- Carry out engine and transmission repairs when required.
4. Diagnostics
- Use computerized diagnostic tools to detect vehicle faults.
- Test systems and ensure proper functioning after repairs.
5. Documentation
- Record service details in job cards or service reports.
- Inform the service advisor about repair work and spare parts needed.
6. Workshop Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the service workshop.
- Properly store tools and equipment.
7. Customer Support
- Assist service advisors by explaining repair work if needed.
- Ensure vehicles are ready on time for delivery.
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering
- Basic knowledge of automobile systems is usually required for showroom mechanics.

Salary (Madurai / Tamil Nadu – Typical)
- Fresher: ₹12,000 – ₹18,000 per month
- Experienced mechanic: ₹20,000 – ₹30,000+ per month depending on experience
