Job Summary
We are looking for a highly analytical and technically adept Purchase Engineer to manage the end-to-end procurement of -all components for our automated inspection and Special Purpose machines, domestic as well as Globally. You will be the vital link between our Engineering, R&D, and Production teams, ensuring procurement at Right price, in right time, of right quality, in right quantity, from right source. - Your expertise will directly impact our machine performance, build cost, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
· Identify, evaluate, select, and develop reliable suppliers for custom and standard componentsmechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, and optical
· Conduct technical and commercial assessments of new and existing suppliers, including audits and capability reviews.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure partnership and continuous improvement.
2. Technical Procurement:
.Review and analyze engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications from the R&D team.
.Source highly specialized components, such as:
.Precision linear motion systems (guides, ball screws, actuators) Machine vision systems (cameras, lenses, lighting)
.Sensors (LVDT, Laser, Vision)
.Fabricated parts (machined frames, enclosures)
.Computing hardware and control systems
.Various Automation Components - PLC, CNC controller, Servo package, Robots, Industrial Vision Systems, Sensors, Relays, Switchgears, Industrial Cables, Control panels, Transformers, Connectors, Industrial Fuses, Panel Connectors, Automation moulded Cables, Drag Chain, Robot Dress Pack, Safety Switches, Safety Relays, Encoders etc
.Hardware, Geared motors, conveyors, seals, pneumatics, raw material, fabrication, steel purchase, sheet metals purchase.
.Provide technical support to the purchasing team and offer value engineering suggestions to design engineers.
3. Cost Negotiation & Budget Management:
· Lead cost negotiations to achieve the best possible price, payment terms, and delivery schedules without compromising quality.
· Perform cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitiveness.
· Work with finance and project management to maintain procurement budgets.
4. Supply Chain Coordination & Risk Management:
· Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Prepare comparative statements for approvals, Purchase Orders (POs), and manage order acknowledgements.
· Proactively track orders and manage the supply chain to prevent production delays.
· Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (single-source items, long lead times, geopolitical factors).
· Implement inventory optimization strategies for critical components.
5. Quality Assurance Collaboration:
· Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any incoming quality issues (IQC), rejections, or non-conformances with suppliers.
· Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
· 3-5 years of experience as a Purchase Engineer, Sourcing Engineer, or a similar role in a capital equipment, machine building, or precision manufacturing environment.
· Proven experience in sourcing a wide range of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic components.
· Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
· Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiation and contract management.
Highly Desirable:
· Experience with vision systems, precision sensors, or motion control components, procurement of various Components, Assemblies, sub- assemblies etc
· Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Zoho Procurement).
· Familiarity with international sourcing, import/export procedures and logistics.
· Understanding of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
