About the Role
We need a hands-on, student-friendly Lab Assistant with good working knowledge in Data Engineering to support daily lab sessions, mentor students, and be the on-ground link between students and our online core trainers.
You don’t need to be an expert — but you should have solid hands-on familiarity with the Data Engineering stack.
Tech Skills Expected
- Python basics — scripting, data manipulation, pandas/numpy
- Power BI — report building, DAX basics, data visualization
- ETL concepts — Azure Data Factory (ADF), pipeline basics
- Databricks — notebooks, basic Spark operations
- SQL & NoSQL databases — querying, joins, MongoDB basics
- Git & GitHub — version control, repo management
Key Responsibilities
Lab Support
✅ Guide & support students during hands-on Data Engineering lab sessions
✅ Troubleshoot common errors — Python scripts, Power BI reports, pipeline issues & environment setup
✅ Help students with tool setup — Jupyter, VS Code, Azure, Databricks, Git
✅ Ensure lab is ready and all tools/environments are configured before every session
✅ Assist with assignments, debugging & live data project support
Student Mentoring
✅ Mentor students individually to build confidence in data concepts and tools
✅ Identify struggling students early and provide targeted one-on-one guidance
✅ Break down complex data engineering concepts into simple, relatable examples
✅ Motivate and track student progress, flagging concerns to core trainers
Coordination
✅ Daily coordination with online core trainers on student progress & blockers
✅ Share lab session reports and student performance updates with the team
Who We’re Looking For
- Graduate in CS / IT / Engineering / Data Science
- 2–3 years in IT support, data roles, teaching, or lab/training environment
- Comfortable explaining data concepts simply to students
- Quick learner with a helping, teaching & mentoring mindset
- Organized, punctual & team-oriented
