Job Purpose:
The Strategic Investments team invests Bank’s money in equity instruments of unlisted companies and Alternate Investment Funds (AIFs) for mid-long term financial gains and strategic purposes.
The team manages a large investment portfolio of over 60 companies and 36 AIFs.
This role offers valuable experience across the entire equity investment cycle, including investment opportunities, performance monitoring, and exit strategies, with a focus on compliance and process completeness.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyze and evaluate investments in unlisted companies and AIFs, including incremental investments or divestments, based on business/industry trends.
Prepare executive summaries and detailed investment notes for Investment Committee review.
Execute approved investments, including drafting terms, agreements, understanding compliance, leading due diligence (financial, tax, legal), meeting process requirements, and coordinating with various internal and external teams.
Maintain records for each investment/divestment.
Conduct quarterly portfolio management for investee companies and AIFs, monitoring performance, tracking fund raises/exits, computing IRR, and preparing business commentary.
Identify cross-sell opportunities across the AIF portfolio for banking products.
Plan and execute timely exits to ensure expected returns.
Provide supervision and guidance to team members, mentoring them in technical, analytical, and industry knowledge.
Independently develop investment/divestment theses from market/industry diligence, shortlist opportunities, and meet with companies/AIFs.
Track and meet external (RBI, FEMA) and internal compliance requirements for the investment portfolio, maintaining data for regulatory use.
Educational Qualifications:
Graduation: B.Com
Post-Graduation: CA (preferred)/MBA
Key Skills:
Strong analytical mindset and financial modelling abilities
Execution-focused, with attention to detail and completeness
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT)
Effective communication for multi-stakeholder engagement
Experience Required:
Minimum 5-7 years post CA/MBA in banking, asset management, or equity securities industry, with a focus on company analysis, review, and research.
This experience will facilitate faster development of full deal cycle investment expertise through on-the-job and real-time investment exposure.
