Job Description – Production Engineer (FMCG – Organic Food Manufacturing)
Job Summary
The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing production operations in an organic food manufacturing facility. The role ensures efficient production while maintaining product quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to organic certification standards. The Production Engineer works closely with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to achieve production targets and continuous process improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Operations
- Execute daily and weekly production plans to meet customer demand.
- Monitor production schedules and optimize machine utilization.
- Ensure maximum productivity while minimizing downtime and wastage.
- Coordinate manpower allocation across production lines.
Process Improvement
- Analyze production processes and implement efficiency improvements.
- Reduce material losses, production costs, and cycle times.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies.
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Maintain product quality in accordance with company specifications and organic certification requirements.
- Coordinate with the Quality team during inspections and audits.
- Ensure complete traceability of raw materials and finished products.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Monitor machine performance and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the Maintenance Department.
- Ensure production equipment is calibrated and operating efficiently.
Inventory & Material Management
- Monitor consumption of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Minimize production losses and inventory variances.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain production records, batch manufacturing records, and process documentation.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations and organic certification standards.
- Support internal and external audits.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards.
- Promote safe handling of food products and manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic production environment.
Team Management
- Supervise production operators and line staff.
- Conduct training on SOPs, hygiene practices, food safety, and operational procedures.
- Foster teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in FMCG, food processing, organic food manufacturing, or beverage production.
- Experience in automated production lines is preferred.
