The Academic Dean (Science) is responsible for providing academic leadership, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning, and driving curriculum implementation for the Science department. The role focuses on improving academic outcomes, mentoring teachers, monitoring classroom practices, and fostering a culture of innovation, inquiry, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership
- Lead and oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Science curriculum in accordance with CBSE/ICSE/State Board guidelines.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student learning outcomes and academic excellence.
- Ensure effective lesson planning, curriculum mapping, and timely completion of the syllabus.
- Promote interdisciplinary and experiential learning practices.
Faculty Management
- Mentor, coach, and support Science faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify faculty training needs and organize professional development programs.
- Monitor teacher performance and recommend improvement plans where required.
Student Achievement
- Analyze assessment data and implement intervention plans for academic improvement.
- Guide students in Science projects, Olympiads, exhibitions, STEM activities, and research-based learning.
- Support students in career guidance related to Science, Engineering, Medical, and Research fields.
Curriculum & Assessment
- Ensure quality in question paper setting, assessments, practical examinations, and evaluation processes.
- Review academic standards and maintain consistency across grades.
- Introduce innovative teaching methodologies and digital learning tools.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor classroom instruction and ensure adherence to academic policies.
- Maintain academic documentation, reports, and compliance requirements.
- Support school accreditation and quality assurance initiatives.
Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct parent meetings to discuss academic progress.
- Address academic concerns and provide guidance to parents and students.
- Collaborate with the Principal and other department heads to achieve institutional goals.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree (M.Sc.) in a Science discipline (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, or related field).
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
- Additional qualifications in Educational Leadership or School Administration are preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 8–12 years of teaching experience in a reputed school.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in an academic leadership role such as Academic Coordinator, Head of Department, Vice Principal, or Academic Dean.
- Experience with CBSE curriculum and board examination processes is preferred.
