The Real Time Data Administrator (RTDA) will be responsible for monitoring, validating, managing, and supporting real-time drilling and operational data received from offshore and onshore drilling rigs. The role involves ensuring continuous data availability, maintaining data quality, troubleshooting data transmission issues, and supporting 24/7 real-time operations environments.
The successful candidate will work closely with drilling engineers, rig personnel, real-time operations teams, and technical support teams to ensure reliable and uninterrupted data services across multiple drilling operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time drilling and operational data streams from assigned rigs.
- Ensure continuous availability and integrity of rig data feeds.
- Identify and escalate data interruptions, anomalies, or communication failures.
- Perform first-level troubleshooting for data transmission and visualization issues.
- Validate incoming drilling data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Monitor sensor/channel performance and report abnormal readings.
- Maintain proper mapping and configuration of real-time data channels.
- Support data cleansing and correction activities when required.
- Support real-time data aggregation and visualization platforms.
- Assist in maintaining rig connectivity and communication interfaces.
- Coordinate with IT/network teams and third-party vendors for issue resolution.
- Maintain system logs, incident records, and operational documentation.
- Communicate with rig personnel and customer representatives during operational incidents.
- Provide timely updates during data outages or system issues.
- Participate in shift handovers and operational status reporting.
- Follow company HSE, cybersecurity, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with customer service standards and SLA requirements.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Instrumentation, Information Technology or related technical discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience and good knowledge of real-time drilling data systems and workflows
- Familiarity with:
- WITS / WITSML protocols
- OPC UA and Modbus communication protocols
- Real-time data aggregation systems
- Data visualization platforms
- Rig instrumentation and sensors
- Industrial automation and data integration environments
- Understanding of drilling parameters and rig operations
- Basic networking and troubleshooting knowledge
- Experience with ticketing and incident management systems
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a 24/7 rotational shift environment
- Good communication and coordination abilities
- Ability to work under pressure during operational incidents
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Experience supporting major drilling operations or upstream oil & gas projects
- Exposure to cybersecurity practices in operational technology environments
