Job Title: Clinical DietitianJob Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Dietitian to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing the nutritional needs of our patients, developing customized therapeutic diet plans, and providing medical nutrition therapy (MNT). You will work closely with a multidisciplinary medical team (physicians, nurses, and specialists) to integrate proper nutrition into overall patient care plans, aiding in recovery and managing chronic illnesses.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Nutritional Assessment: Evaluate patients’ medical histories, laboratory results, dietary habits, and anthropometric measurements to determine nutritional status and risk factors.
- Care Plan Development: Design, implement, and manage individualized nutrition care plans and therapeutic diets (e.g., for diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular health, or critical care) based on physician orders.
- Patient Education & Counseling: Instruct patients and their families on dietary restrictions, healthy eating habits, and lifestyle modifications required for disease management.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, consulting with physicians and nursing staff to recommend changes to diet orders, specialized formulas, or parenteral/enteral nutrition support.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Track patients' clinical progress, calculate dietary intake, monitor tolerance to nutrition interventions, and modify care plans as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain timely, precise, and thorough documentation of all nutrition assessments, interventions, and counseling sessions in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Community & Quality Assurance: Update patient education materials, contribute to departmental quality assurance programs, and occasionally conduct nutrition workshops or seminars.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Credentials: Valid Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, or equivalent country-specific/state certification/licensure.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment (hospitals, long-term care facilities, or outpatient clinics) is preferred (open to strong candidates who have recently completed their clinical internship).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, human physiology, biochemistry, and how medications interact with nutritional status.
