Resident Medical Officer (RMO) – MBBS (ICU & Cardiac Care)

Job Summary:
The RMO (MBBS) – ICU & Cardiac Care is responsible for managing critically ill patients, particularly those with cardiac conditions. The role involves continuous monitoring, emergency management, assisting in advanced cardiac procedures, and ensuring adherence to ICU protocols and NABH standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. ICU Patient Management
- Monitor vital parameters of ICU patients (ventilator, monitors, infusion pumps).
- Manage critically ill patients including post-operative and ventilated patients.
- Maintain detailed ICU case sheets and hourly monitoring charts.
- Identify early signs of deterioration and escalate immediately.
2. Cardiac Care Responsibilities
- Manage patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), heart failure, arrhythmias.
- Interpret ECG, cardiac enzymes, ABG reports.
- Assist in management of MI, unstable angina, cardiac arrest cases.
- Assist cardiologists during procedures like:
- Angiography
- Angioplasty
- Temporary pacemaker insertion
3. Emergency & Life-Saving Interventions
- Perform and assist in CPR, intubation, defibrillation.
- Manage cardiac emergencies using ACLS protocols.
- Stabilize patients before shifting to higher centers if required.
4. Procedures & Clinical Skills
- IV cannulation, central line assistance
- Arterial line assistance
- ABG sampling and interpretation
- Foley catheterization, Ryle’s tube insertion
- Basic ventilator management
5. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with intensivists, cardiologists, and nursing staff.
- Communicate patient status clearly to consultants and relatives.
- Ensure timely investigations and reporting (Troponin, Echo, etc.).
6. Documentation & NABH Compliance
- Maintain ICU records as per NABH standards
- Ensure accurate documentation of:
- Consent forms
- Drug charts
- Procedure notes
- Handle medico-legal cases appropriately
7. Infection Control & Safety
- Follow strict ICU infection control protocols
- Adhere to hand hygiene and sterile techniques
- Monitor antibiotic stewardship practices
Qualifications:
- MBBS with valid NMC registration
- BLS & ACLS certified (mandatory/preferred)
Experience:
- 1–3 years experience in ICU / Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) preferred
- Freshers with ICU exposure during internship may be considered

- Ability to handle high-pressure ICU environment
