Job Description (JD) – Lift Engineer (Elevator Engineer)
Position: Lift Engineer
Location: N-1 and N-2 Buildings
Reporting To: [DGM – lifts]
1. Purpose of the Position
To ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of all elevators/lifts installed in N-1 and N-2 Buildings through regular monitoring, preventive maintenance coordination, performance assessment, and liaison with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and service providers.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Lift Operations and Monitoring
Monitor daily operation and performance of all passengers and service lifts.
Conduct routine inspections to identify operational issues, abnormal noises, vibration, leveling problems, and safety concerns.
Maintain a daily log of lift performance, breakdowns, and service activities.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and statutory requirements.
B. Breakdown Management
Respond promptly to lift breakdowns and emergency situations.
Coordinate with OEMs and maintenance agencies for immediate restoration of services.
Monitor response time and resolution time of service providers.
Investigate recurring faults and recommend corrective measures.
C. Preventive Maintenance
Supervise preventive maintenance schedules as per OEM recommendations and CAMC/AMC provisions.
Verify quality and completeness of maintenance work carried out by service agencies.
Ensure replacement of defective components in a timely manner.
Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts replacement.
D. Vendor and OEM Coordination
Act as the nodal point for coordination with OEMs, contractors, and maintenance agencies.
Follow up on pending complaints and recurring technical issues.
Review service reports submitted by vendors and ensured closure of observations.
Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
E. Safety and Compliance
Ensure proper functioning of safety devices, emergency alarms, intercoms, rescue systems, and Automatic Rescue Devices (ARDs).
Coordinate annual inspections and certification by competent authorities.
Ensure adherence to relevant safety regulations and standards.
F. Reporting and Documentation
Submit monthly reports on lift performance, uptime, breakdown analysis, and maintenance activities.
Maintain complaint registers and service history records.
4. Experience
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in operation, maintenance, or installation of elevators/lifts.
Experience in handling multiple lifts in commercial, institutional, or government buildings.
Familiarity with major lift OEMs such as Otis, KONE, Johnson, Mitsubishi Electric, and TKE will be preferred.
5. Key Skills
Knowledge of elevator systems, controls, and safety mechanisms.
Technical reporting and documentation.
Strong coordination and communication skills.
Ability to handle emergencies and prioritize critical issues.
6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Lift uptime percentage.
Reduction in breakdown frequency.
Compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
Closure rate of recurring issues.
Deliverable
The Lift Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring maximum lift availability, minimizing downtime, improving service quality, and providing a single-point technical interface between the organization and OEMs/service providers for all lift-related matters in N-1 and N-2 Buildings.
