Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Department: Accounts & Finance
Reports To: Accounts Manager / Finance Manager
Job Purpose
To support the Accounts & Finance department by maintaining accurate accounting records, processing financial transactions, ensuring statutory compliance, and assisting in financial reporting and audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day accounting transactions in ERP/Tally Prime.
- Prepare and verify payment vouchers, receipt vouchers, journal vouchers, and contra entries.
- Process vendor invoices and customer billing.
- Maintain Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements (BRS).
- Manage cash and petty cash transactions.
- Prepare GST, TDS, and other statutory data for filing.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
- Reconcile vendor, customer, and ledger accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and inventory records.
- Coordinate with procurement, stores, project, and administration departments for accounting documentation.
- Prepare MIS reports, payment schedules, and financial summaries.
- Support internal and statutory audits by providing required records and documents.
- Ensure proper filing and maintenance of accounting records.
- Assist in budgeting and cost control activities.
- Comply with company policies, accounting standards, and statutory regulations.
- Perform any other accounting-related work assigned by management.
Educational Qualification
- B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance)
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting and finance.
- Experience in EPC, Electrical Contracting, Construction, Manufacturing, or Infrastructure companies is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Tally Prime, SAP, or other ERP software.
- Good knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and accounting standards.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas) and MS Office.
- Understanding of project accounting and cost tracking is an advantage.
