Job Summary:
The Tool Room In-charge is responsible for managing the tool room operations. This includes overseeing the maintenance, repair, and development of dies, tools, and fixtures, ensuring smooth production processes, and maintaining the quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the maintenance, repair, and modification of HPDC & GDC tools, jigs, and fixtures.
· Coordinate with NPD and production teams for the development and trial of new dies and tools.
· Ensure quick response and resolution to tool-related breakdowns to minimize production down time.
· Maintain stock of spare parts, consumables, and necessary tools to avoid disruptions.
· Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for tools and dies.
· Continuously improve tool life, efficiency, and productivity by suggesting modifications and enhancements.
· Ensure all tools and dies meet the required specifications and quality standards.
· Supervise and guide toolmakers and technicians, ensuring training and skill development.
· Work with external vendors for outsourced tool repairs and new tool procurement.
· Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and company policies in the tool room operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Making.
- 5+ years of experience in tool room operations in an Aluminum HPDC/GDC foundry.
- Hands-on experience with tool maintenance, machining, and CNC/EDM/Wire cut operations.
- Strong knowledge of Gravity die casting processes and metallurgy.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tool design modification.
- Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 & IATF 16949. ISO 2015.Documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
