Summary:
Act as the ongoing interface between the client and the system or application. Responsible for end-to-end database and infrastructure administration across MSSQL, Sybase, and AWS environments. Ensures availability, performance, security, and reliability through proactive monitoring, advanced troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Administer MSSQL and Sybase databases including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades
Manage MSSQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering, and failover mechanisms
Administer Sybase replication servers, backup servers, and performance tuning
Manage AWS infrastructure including EC2, RDS, storage (EBS), networking (VPC), IAM roles, and security groups
Perform proactive monitoring of database performance, query execution, and system health
Troubleshoot complex issues such as deadlocks, blocking, query performance, and latency
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes for recurring database issues
Manage database backups, restores, log shipping, and disaster recovery strategies
Implement database security, user access control, encryption, and compliance policies
Optimize queries, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning
Execute patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation activities
Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions across on-prem and AWS
Automate database maintenance tasks using scripts and scheduling tools
Collaborate with application teams for DB performance optimization and deployments
Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base

ITSM: ServiceNow
Automation: PowerShell, T-SQL scripts, Shell scripting
Backup Tools: Veeam, Commvault, Native DB backup utilities
Security Tools: Qualys, Nessus
SLA / KPI Ownership:
Ensure adherence to SLA/KPI commitments
Track MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve) and MTTA (Mean Time to Acknowledge)
Monitor MTBF and database availability
Publish weekly/monthly service performance reports
Drive service improvements and optimization initiatives
Client Facing Responsibilities:
Lead and participate in war room calls during major database incidents
Manage escalation matrix and stakeholder communication
Provide periodic updates to business and technical stakeholders
Participate in governance, CAB, and service review meetings
Technical Experience:
5+ years of experience in database and infrastructure administration
Strong troubleshooting and RCA expertise
Experience with HA/DR architectures (AlwaysOn, replication)
Hands-on AWS cloud and automation experience
