Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to manage end-to-end production of PPE, workwear, technical textile, or protective clothing manufacturing, manufactured as per applicable International standards. The candidate should have strong knowledge of garment production, technical textile handling, sewing operations, quality control, production planning, and compliance requirements for protective clothing used in industrial safety applications, preferably.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead complete production operations for protective garment components.
· Ensure manufacturing is carried out as per approved technical specifications, buyer requirements, production files, and applicable International standards for protective ensembles.
· Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on order quantity, delivery timelines, machine capacity, manpower, and material availability.
· Coordinate with cutting, stitching, sealing, finishing, inspection, packing, stores, purchase, quality, and dispatch teams for smooth production flow.
· Monitor line efficiency, output, productivity, WIP, rejection levels, rework, and on-time delivery performance.
· Ensure correct handling and usage of technical fabrics.
· Oversee critical operations such as layer matching, seam construction, reinforcement, attachment, closures, labelling, finishing, and final inspection.
· Maintain strict quality control at all production stages to meet safety, performance, and certification-related requirements.
· Work closely with the Quality Assurance team for in-line inspection, final inspection, testing coordination, documentation, and corrective action implementation.
· Identify production bottlenecks and implement recovery plans to meet delivery commitments.
· Train supervisors, line leaders, operators, and quality checkers on SOPs, workmanship standards, safety requirements, and product-specific quality points.
· Maintain production reports, efficiency reports, rejection analysis, manpower planning, material consumption records, and order status updates.
· Ensure compliance with factory safety, housekeeping, 5S, and process discipline requirements.
· Support new product development, sampling, pilot runs, production trials, and bulk production approvals.
Team Management Responsibilities
· Lead, supervise, and motivate production supervisors, line leaders, operators, helpers, quality checkers, finishing staff, and packing teams.
· Allocate manpower across cutting, stitching, sealing, finishing, inspection, and packing sections based on production priority and skill level.
· Set daily production targets for each line and review achievement against plan with supervisors and line leaders.
· Conduct daily production meetings to review output, bottlenecks, quality issues, absenteeism, manpower gaps, and delivery priorities.
· Develop accountability among supervisors and line leaders for productivity, quality, discipline, safety, and housekeeping on the shop floor.
· Train and upgrade operators on critical operations, technical garment handling, workmanship standards, SOPs, and product-specific quality requirements.
· Evaluate team performance and recommend skill development, cross-training, redeployment, or corrective action where required.
· Maintain strong shop-floor discipline, attendance control, shift planning, overtime planning, and smooth coordination between departments.
· Create a safe, organized, and performance-driven production environment focused on teamwork, quality, and timely delivery.
Safety Compliance Responsibilities – International Certification
· Ensure production processes support compliance with International Certification requirements for protective ensembles and related protective garment elements.
· Coordinate with Quality Assurance, testing laboratories, certification bodies, and customer compliance teams for certification, product evaluation, surveillance audits, and certification-related documentation.
· Maintain production traceability for certified components including outer shell fabrics, moisture barriers, thermal liners, reflective trims, threads, closures, labels, and other approved accessories.
· Monitor workmanship and critical safety construction points such as seam type, stitch density, seam strength, reinforcement, reflective tape placement, garment layering, closure attachment, and labeling accuracy.
· Implement shop-floor controls to prevent material mix-ups, unauthorized substitutions, deviation from approved specifications, and non-compliant production practices.
· Maintain readiness for audits, customer audits, product inspections, document reviews, corrective action verification, and factory surveillance visits.
· Ensure production and quality records are maintained for batch traceability, inspection results, test reports, non-conformance closure, corrective actions, and certificate support.
· Train production teams on safety-critical garment construction, approved processes, certification requirements, compliance points, and consequences of deviation from certified specifications.
Candidate Profile
· Minimum 5 years of experience in garment manufacturing, PPE manufacturing, workwear, uniforms, technical textiles, or protective clothing production.
· Strong understanding of apparel production processes including cutting, sewing, finishing, inspection, packing, and dispatch.
· Experience in handling multi-layer garments, technical fabrics, special sewing operations, heavy-duty machines, seam strength requirements, and critical safety-related workmanship.
· Ability to read and understand tech packs, product specifications, measurement sheets, BOMs, production files, and quality manuals.
Education
Diploma / Degree in Textile Technology, Garment Manufacturing, Apparel Production, Industrial Engineering, , or any relevant technical field. Candidates with strong practical experience in protective garment production may also be considered.
Required Certifications / Standards Knowledge
· Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, internal audits, SOP documentation, traceability, and corrective/preventive action processes.
· Training or certification in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Industrial Engineering, Production Planning, Quality Management, Safety Management, or PPE Compliance will be an added advantage.
About the Role
This is a critical production leadership role for a manufacturing setup focused on certified fire safety and protective apparel. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that production output meets delivery timelines, workmanship standards, safety expectations, and quality requirements for fire fighter suits and related protective garments.
Renumeration : Shall be as per experience and knowledge and Industry standard.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
