A Medical Record Technician is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and securing patient medical records. The role ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and easy retrieval of patient information in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update patient medical records (inpatient and outpatient).
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation of records.
- File, sort, and retrieve medical records when required.
- Assign and verify medical codes (ICD/CPT) where applicable.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments for record completion.
- Handle discharge summaries and ensure proper record closure.
- Track missing records and follow up for completion.
- Assist during audits (NABH) and provide required documentation.
- Prepare reports and statistics related to patient data.
- Ensure proper storage and archival of old records.
