Qualification: B.Sc Nursing / GNM
Experience: 2–5 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in Women & Child Care / Emergency / Triage
Job Summary
The Triage Nurse is responsible for the initial assessment, prioritization, and timely management of patients based on the urgency of their clinical condition. The role requires close coordination with doctors and clinical teams to ensure prompt and appropriate patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessment of patients and identify their immediate healthcare needs.
- Prioritize patients based on the severity and urgency of their condition.
- Record vital signs, symptoms, medical history, and other relevant clinical information accurately.
- Identify emergency and high-risk cases and immediately escalate them to the concerned doctor.
- Ensure timely transfer of emergency patients to the appropriate clinical area.
- Monitor patients while they are waiting for consultation or further treatment.
- Coordinate with consultants, nurses, emergency teams, and other departments for seamless patient care.
- Assist in managing obstetric and gynaecological emergencies as required.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of triage assessment and patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the hospital information system.
- Follow hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, infection control practices, and patient safety standards.
- Ensure effective communication with patients and attendants regarding the care process.
- Handle patients and attendants with empathy, professionalism, and a patient-centric approach.
- Participate in emergency preparedness, drills, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the triage area is clean, organized, and adequately equipped.
- Check the availability and functioning of essential emergency equipment and supplies.
- Report any equipment malfunction, shortage of supplies, or safety concerns to the concerned authority.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.

- Experience in handling obstetric and gynaecological emergencies will be an added advantage.
