JOB DESCRIPTION
This job description outlines a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) or Trainee Engineer position in a heavy fabrication setup. The fresher will bridge the gap between theoretical design and shop-floor manufacturing, gaining hands-on experience in cutting, rolling, welding, and quality control of heavy metal fabrications.
Role Overview
- Position: Junior Mechanical Engineer / Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET)
- Industry: Heavy Engineering & Fabrication (Tanks, Pressure Vessels, ISO Containers)
- Location: Palanpur/Gujarat region
- Reporting To: Production Manager / QA Head
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Production & Shop Floor Operations
- Assist in monitoring daily fabrication activities (cutting, bending, rolling, welding, and final assembly).
- Coordinate with shop-floor supervisors and welders to ensure manufacturing strictly follows approved drawings and process sheets.
- Track material flow to prevent bottlenecks and ensure daily production targets are met.
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement (Kaizen) practices on the shop floor.
2. Quality Control (QC) & Inspection
- Learn and assist in implementing ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (BPVC) and ISO standards.
- Conduct in-process dimensional checks using measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, and weld gauges).
- Assist QA/QC engineers in visual inspections, hydro-testing, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) documentation.
- Monitor welding processes (MIG/TIG/SMAW) and ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Records).
3. Design, Drafting & Documentation
- Work with senior engineers to create 2D & 3D fabrication drawings, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Prepare plate developments (cone and involute developments) and flat plate cutting layouts for steel rolling.
- Maintain daily production logs, material consumption reports, and document drawing revisions.
Required Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Fabrication Technology.
- Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of Engineering Drawing,Welding, Strength of Materials, and basic manufacturing processes.
- Software Skills: Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo).
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, and a strong willingness to learn on the shop floor.
Pay: ₹19,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
