Role Overview:
The MES Solution Consultant supports the implementation, configuration, and support of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions across manufacturing plants. The role is focused on hands-on configuration, integration support, customization, and delivery execution under the guidance of senior consultants and solution architects. Candidates may have experience with any commercial MES platform such as Siemens Opcenter/Camstar, Delmia Apriso, Rockwell FactoryTalk MES, or similar systems.
Key Responsibilities:
MES Configuration & Delivery
Configure and support MES solutions based on defined functional designs.
Participate in requirement discussions and translate manufacturing needs into MES configurations.
Work on MES areas such as:
o Work orders and production execution
o Routing, operations, and workflows
o Material tracking and genealogy
o Quality execution and basic defect tracking
Supportplant-level MES rollouts and enhancements. Integration & Interface Support
Support MES integration with ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
Assist indata exchange interfaces between MES and external systems.
Work on shop-floor connectivity with PLC, SCADA, OPC, or IoT connectors.
Monitor and troubleshoot inbound and outbound messages, interfaces, and data consistency issues.
Customization & Technical Support
Support MES customizations and scripting using:
o .NET / C# o VB / VBScript or equivalent
o Basic scripting or configuration logic available in the MES platform
Assist in debugging, issue resolution, and minor enhancements.
Support basic API or service-based integrations where applicable.
Reporting & Data Handling
Develop or modify MES reports using:
o SQL queries o Platform-specific reporting tools
o Power BI / SSRS / Crystal Reports (if applicable)
Support data validation, analysis, and operational reporting.
Work with MES databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL. Standards & Manufacturing Concepts
Basic understanding of ISA-95 concepts (ERP–MES–Shop Floor separation)..
Support & Collaboration:
Work closely withsenior consultants, architects, and project leads.
Participate in testing phases (SIT, UAT) and go-live support.
Use tools like JIRA, IRIS, or similar for task and defect tracking.
Prepare basic technical and functional documentation.
Required Technical Skills MES & Manufacturing Systems
3–6 years of experience working on any MES solution.
Hands-on exposure to:
o MES configuration
o Production execution processes
o Manufacturing data models
Experience on one or more MES platforms such as:
o Siemens Opcenter / Camstar
o Delmia Apriso
o Critical Manufacturing
o Rockwell FactoryTalk
MES Integration & Automation Exposure
Basic experience integrating MES with ERP systems.
Exposure to shop-floor systems:
o PLC o SCADA o OPC / OPC UA o IoT gateways (good to have)
Development & Tools
Basic development or scripting experience in:
o C# / .NET
o Basic Python
SQL knowledge for reporting and troubleshooting.
Experience withbug fixing and enhancements.
Infrastructure & Databases
Working experience with databases:
o SQL Server o Oracle o PostgreSQL
Basic understanding of: o Windows OS o Application servers
Exposure to cloud environments (AWS / Azure) is a plus but not mandatory
